The Rothschild Haggadah, a beautiful ancient version from Italy. Dating from about 1450, the book was reportedly illustrated by the great Yoel Ben Shimon, one of the better-known illuminators of the medieval era. It was looted by the Nazis from the Rothschild family in 1939 and disappeared – only to be acquired by Yale graduate Dr. Fred Murphy, who bequeathed it to his alma mater in 1948. Decades later, in 1980, the Haggadah was acknowledged to be property of the Rothschilds, who donated it to The National Library of Israel.

So, what do you think ?
